Hybrid / Distance Education Program

The Cardiac Monitor Technician (CMT) program will prepare students for entry-level employment as a cardiac monitor technician. Graduates will be able to work in hospitals, outpatient clinics, and physicians’ offices. The CMT program is taught using a hybrid/blended learning environment.

Students will learn to conduct 12-lead and 15-lead EKG tests, monitor EKG machines, interpret EKG/ECG readouts, and prepare EKG study reports. They will also learn to perform stress tests, ambulatory monitoring, and rhythm analysis. CMT Graduates will demonstrate behaviors consistent with professional standards and will meet employer expectations for an entry-level position.

Clinical Internship

The Cardiac Monitor Technician program requires students to complete a mandatory 120-hour clinical internship. Students will be placed at a clinical site by the AIMS Internship Department. The internship is designed to provide practical training in a real work environment; students will have a mentor who trains and guides them.

Program Overview

The Cardiac Monitor Technician program offers an advanced form of EKG technician training, which includes training in resting EKGs, stress testing, ambulatory monitoring, and rhythm analysis. The program includes an 120-hour clinical internship, and graduates are eligible to take certification exams from CCI.
