Guest Speaker Dr. Nimisha Mehta
Dr. Nimisha Mehta, a board-certified radiologist specializing in pediatric radiology (ultrasound), recently visited the Diagnostic Medical Sonography class at AIMS Education on March 24, 2023. With over 10 years of experience in pediatric ultrasound, Dr. Mehta is currently associated with New Jersey Imaging Network (RadNet).
As a guest lecturer for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program and a member of the program advisory board, Dr. Mehta shared her extensive knowledge and expertise with the students. She completed a fellowship in Body and Musculoskeletal Imaging at George Washington University Hospital, as well as another fellowship in Pediatric Radiology at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington D.C. Dr. Mehta also completed her residency at Morristown and Overlook Medical Centers and holds a medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine.
During the lecture, Dr. Mehta provided the students with a comprehensive understanding of neonatal head, spine, and hip scanning, including protocols, pathologies, and sonographic findings. She also demonstrated the maneuvers required for scanning the neonatal hip and trained the students on how to place the calipers for measuring the alpha and beta angles. The students greatly appreciated Dr. Mehta's willingness to come in and provide them with valuable training, and her expertise in pediatric radiology made for an informative and engaging lecture.
Overall, Dr. Mehta's impressive background and extensive experience in pediatric radiology make her a valuable resource for the students at AIMS Education. Her willingness to share her knowledge and expertise with future healthcare professionals is a testament to her dedication to the field and commitment to ensuring that the next generation of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers is well-prepared for their careers.
