DMS Students Visit Jersey Shore University Medical Center
A group of 20 Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) students from AIMS Education College of Health Sciences recently had the opportunity to visit Hackensack Meridian Health - Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Accompanied by AIMS clinical coordinator, Ginelle Gutierrez, and AIMS faculty member, Alka Vora, the students engaged in an informative and inspiring field trip designed to deepen their understanding of the radiology department’s daily operations and career opportunities in the field of sonography.
The visit was hosted by a team of experienced professionals, including Christine Sutter, the hospital’s Ultrasound Coordinator, Patrique Larco Brown, Outpatient Radiology Supervisor, and Isaak Miroshenko, Radiology Supervisor. These experts provided valuable insights into their roles and responsibilities, helping students gain a broader perspective on the profession.
One of the highlights of the trip was learning about the hospital’s new “Earn While You Learn” program. This initiative allows students who are completing their internships at the hospital to work separately in the radiology department, enriching their educational experience through hands-on learning and professional development.

Beyond technical knowledge, the visit also fostered enthusiasm and curiosity among students, reinforcing their commitment to their chosen career paths. Through interactions with radiology professionals, students had the chance to hear firsthand experiences, ask questions, and witness the dedication and expertise required in the field.
Patrique Larco Brown expressed her appreciation for the visit, stating, “The enthusiasm and curiosity your students brought with them today were inspiring, and our staff was genuinely excited to share their knowledge and experiences. We look forward to continuing this collaboration and welcoming more students in the future!”

AIMS clinical coordinator, Ginelle Gutierrez, extended her gratitude on behalf of the students and faculty, saying, “The opportunity for students to meet and learn from techs who are experts in their fields is truly invaluable. The encouragement and insight from today’s visit will push students to work hard and succeed, as they saw firsthand the impact and rewards of a career in sonography.”
AIMS Education thanks the staff at Jersey Shore University Medical Center for their warm hospitality and commitment to student learning. This field trip was an invaluable experience for the students, reinforcing their passion for the field and providing them with motivation as they continue their training.
